Human Sexuality Resource for High School

30 08 2007

“Free in Christ to Care for the Neighbor: Lutheran Youth Talk about Human Sexuality” will be mailed to all ELCA congregations in September and will be available for download at www.elca.org/faithfuljourney on the Web.

The deadline for youth response forms is December 15, 2007.

The print resource for senior high youth from the Task Force for the ELCA Studies on Sexuality will be released in September.

This adaptation of the December 2006 study “Free in Christ to Serve the Neighbor” will engage senior high youth through music, movie clips, stories from young people, and activities. Bible study, prayer, and ELCA social teachings provide a foundation for youth as they reflect on topics such as:
*When is sex OK?* *How do creation and sin impact my view of sex?* *How do I respond to the way sexuality is depicted in popular culture?*

“Free in Christ to Care for the Neighbor” invites youth to apply a faith perspective as they comment on the world they live in. Each of the six sessions features a take-home handout to help families continue the discussion. Youth and leaders will be able to log on to an accompanying Web site and share their ideas in an online discussion forum.

Through “Free in Christ to Care for the Neighbor,” senior high youth can provide written feedback to the Task Force on ELCA Studies on Sexuality while the task force writes the first draft and proposed social statement on human sexuality.

Since the labyrinth moves around the synod I will be re-editing this entry soon to provide you an email to send your requests for the labyrinth.

Liturgical Dance Resources?

21 08 2007

I received an email this week from someone looking for resources for using dance in worship.  This one is a little off the beaten path for me, I admit.  But perhaps there are some of you out there who might be interested in sharing what resources you use.

I did a quick Amazon search and turned up this resource by a Lutheran dancer which seems to be appropriate for those getting started:  Liturgical Dance: A Practical Guide to Dancing in Worship (Paperback) by Deena Bess Sherman.

Feel free to post your findings and suggestions here.
