This is the resource made available to all the New England congregations at Synod Assembly.  This is the entire resource.  We will be posting this in smaller chunks at our website:  www.getdrenched.org by the end of June.  Let us know how this is working in your congregation.

(If your delegation forgot to pick this up at assembly, note that a hard copy will be mailed to you soon!)

Please take time to review the new resource, Get Drenched: Developing and Deepening Youth and Family Ministry, that has been produced by Steve Kennedy, Heidi Jacoby, Pr. Liz Eide and other members of the Get Drenched Team. You will identify the core values for this important ministry, be guided into resources and activities for developing the ministry in your congregation, and grow in understanding of the ways to keep youth connected to their baptism and to the church.

What is new and different about this approach? Essentially it takes faith formation more seriously, emphasizes the importance of care and renewal for leaders, provides better resources for networking, and incorporates a deep understanding of the present youth culture. I recommend this resource highly.

The Get Drenched Team has done an incredibly faithful and thorough job of tackling the task of providing assistance to congregations for the critical work of youth and family ministry. I hope that you will take the time to read and reflect on this resource, use it in your own setting, and stay in touch with the synod’s team as you “Dive in” to this newly effective compilation of tools for faith relationship with our young people and families.
